    Sacoma was founded in 1989, we design and manufacture metal stamped and assembled parts, tubes, and engineered assemblies for the light vehicle and commercial vehicle markets. We are very good at what we do; we count many of the world’s largest corporations among our customers. We keep them supplied from three locations in central Indiana, Edinburgh, Columbus, and Madison.     In this engineering developmental position, the individual is responsible for identifying, developing, evaluating, improving, commissioning and documenting automated manufacturing processes. The individual will work closely with members of engineering to develop new technical skills and refine the skill they already possess. Successful candidate will also be a key member of our Continuous Improvement team.  In addition, you will work closely with our Quality Assurance and Production staff to ensure our products meet our quality standards regarding the assembly specification, final inspection standards, and work-in-process standards.

    Responsibilities

    1. Gain a “hands on” in-depth understanding of the manufacturing processes of our business units
    2. Provide engineering support to the business units to trouble shoot and resolve technical issues
    3. Identify areas for automated process improvements, and implement corrective actions as necessary
    4. Concept and design machine programming, tooling and associated components for manufacture and implementation
    5. Develop and maintain automated processes according to time, cost and customer specifications
    6. Develop and maintain continuous improvement and quality plans
    7. Identify and implement automated process improvements using lean manufacturing principles

    Qualifications

    1. Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology desired would consider 5+ years of related technical or maintenance work experience in a manufacturing environment.
    2. 3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
    3. Autodesk Mechanical or Inventor software experience
    4. Proficiency in Electrical Diagram documentation - CAD
    5. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite
    6. Excellent written and oral communications skills
    7. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
    8. Analytical and problem-solving skills
