  • Overview

    The CAD Designer will be responsible for drawing and designing fixturing, laser blanks and dies needed for processing prototype and low volume production parts.  The designer will work closely with Engineering and parts builders to develop the best tools/fixtures for each new part. This position requires initiative and the associate must possess a strong desire to learn. This engineering position could include project management and must have ability to perform assigned tasks with minimum direction.

    1. Creating 2D, 3D models of assemblies, BOM’s, and shop drawings using Autodesk, Pro-E or CAD software
    2. Assisting with project estimating as well as customer quoting
    3. Evaluating current designs for cost-cutting and implementing easier or more efficient manufacturing methods
    4. Performing calculations to support proper material sizing and selection
    5. Performs analysis of designs to ensure that all internal and external standards are met including calculations, forces and loads.
    6. Assist in developing and maintaining company design standards to streamline the engineering process for each project
    7. Spend time and actively engage in the manufacturing or prototyping areas
    8. Interact with a diverse population of disciplines including factory workers, supervisors, managers and customer


    1. Ideal candidate should have a minimum of a two-year degree in related technical field, and a minimum of 3 years solid modeling experience
    2. Experience in a manufacturing environment
    3. Advanced experience with software packages AutoCAD Inventor, Pro-E or SolidWorks.
    4. Experience with metal forming simulation and stamping die design is desirable
    5. Ability to read and understand engineering prints required
    6. Experience in creating shop drawings, working with document libraries, knowledge of welding and metal fabrication.
    7. Strong GD&T knowledge
    8. Proficient in MS Office
    9. Strong verbal and written communication skills
    10. Excellent problem-solving capabilities and organization skills, attention to detail a must
    11. Ability to be “hands-on” in manufacturing and prototype areas
